Counselor ( contract with the possibility of permanency after 6 months)

Under the authority of the Executive director, the counselor participates in the development and implementation of the objectives of the shelter. Specifically, the role of the counselor is to ensure the implementation of activities and projects related to the intervention and prevention components for the women.


1. Conducts telephone evaluation and admission of women
2. Establishes relationships of support and trust
3. Provides references and information
4. Plans, organizes and follow-through of intervention plans with the women
5. Provides clinical support and accompanies the women as needed
6. Animates thematic workshops
7. Intervening in crisis
8. Manages emergencies
9. Offers telephone consultations
10. Ensures linkage between the internal (house) and external team regarding the post-shelter services


1. College or university degree in a helping relations field
2. Minimum 2 to 4 years' experience in animation and intervention with an adult clientele
3. Knowledge of the problem of domestic violence and the feminist approach
4. Languages: French, English. other language an asset
5. Communication and public relations skills
6. Ability to work in a team
7. Ability to make decisions with minimal information
8. Ability to manage time
9. Discretion and confidentiality 10. Autonomous

Schedule: full time 35 hours flexible depending on needs Salary: according to the salary scale in force Beginning: July 2019
